Vail Resorts celebrates the Epic acquisition of Perisher

Vail Resorts, the American mountain resort operator, is celebrating, along with Australian snow devotees, the announcement of the acquisition of Perisher in New South Wales. As the company’s first international acquisition, Perisher will join Vail’s 11 ski resorts in the US in offering the Epic Pass and Epic Benefits for its own Perisher Freedom Pass, opening up a world of choice for Aussies.

To celebrate the latest Vail development, Sydney’s media was invited to share dinner and drinks with May Lilley, Senior Manager of International Communications for Vail Resorts, Peter Brulisauer, CEO of Perisher, and Richard Phillips, Sales & Marketing Manager for Perisher, on Wednesday evening. LATTE was among the ski and snowboard fanatics crowding the intimate space of Monopole, the relaxed dining experience from Bentley Restaurant + Bar duo, chef Brent Savage and sommelier Nick Hildebrandt.

Guests were treated to a three-course meal of scallop ceviche with charred avocado, grilled lamb rump with asparagus and a delightful dessert of pumpkin ice-cream, chocolate ganache, mandarin and salted pepitas paired with mulled wine, just to get everyone into that winter mood.

Throughout the evening, May also discussed Vail’s future plans including the merging of Canyons Resort and Park City Mountain Resort in Utah to create the largest ski resort in the US, following an investment of US$50 million, much of which will be used to build a connecting eight-passenger gondola between the two resorts.

Perisher is currently offering its Freedom Pass with Epic Benefits for AU$749 for adults and AU$429 for students up until 31 May 2015, combining unlimited skiing at Perisher with unlimited skiing and riding at Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin in Colorado; Park City and Canyons in Utah; and Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood in California/Nevada with 10 days at Vail and Beaver Creek (pending holiday blackout dates).
