The Peninsula Hong Kong’s Alpine retreat, Chesa, is toasting 50 years as Hong Kong’s choice destination for après-ski favourites. Group Executive Chef and Swiss native Florian Trento has put together a special 4-course menu for the occasion, paying homage to authentic Swiss dishes. Available from 27 August to 31 October and priced at HK$680*pp, the menu showcases classic Swiss dishes served at Chesa’s opening in 1965. The meal begins with a classic Swiss-style meat, duck liver and morel pâté followed by a beef consommé. Mains include a poached pike perch fillet or hearty veal medallions with mushroom sauce on spätzli – a true Alpine extravagance. End on a sweet note with a dessert for berry-lovers and an indulgent mocha or coffee. Wine pairing is available for an added HK$400*pp, while other notable Swiss beverages will also be on offer. Chesa is also inviting guests to compete in a contest based on a traditional game from the Appenzell region of Northeast Switzerland. From 28 August to 28 September, diners who enjoy the 50th Anniversary Menu at Chesa can enter the Talerschwingen Challenge, which involves spinning a coin in a distinctive Swiss bowl for as long as possible. Anyone who manages to start the coin whirling within 8 attempts will win a special treat for their entire table, and the top 5 challengers who record the longest spins will be announced on The Peninsula’s Facebook page each week. At the end of the 4 weeks, the overall champion of the Talerschwingen Challenge will win a pair of round-trip tickets to Switzerland on SWISS International Air Lines. *Subject to 10% service charge Valid Dates: From 27 August to 31 October 2015
