Of all the untold journeys Abercrombie & Kent founder Geoffrey Kent has planned in the past fifty years, these may be the most remarkable yet. Inspiring Expeditions by Geoffrey Kent explore far-flung destinations to offer unrivalled luxury and exclusivity. The inaugural journey, Treasures of Palau on 13 to 21 November 2016, explores the world’s pre-eminent destination for ocean exploration, in the utmost style, aboard the exclusively chartered superyacht, MS ‘Saluzi.’ “Three years ago, I came up with the concept for a new kind of journey, to take intimate groups of intrepid travellers for adventures in the most unexplored areas in the world, remote places only accessible by private jet, led by the best professional explorers,” explains Geoffrey Kent, founder, CEO and Chairman of Abercrombie & Kent. “Our first Inspiring Expedition will recreate Jacques Cousteau’s famous expedition to Palau and dive surrounded by millions of jellyfish that do not sting.” On this exclusive nine-day journey, Geoffrey Kent will accompany guests to experience some of the best scuba diving and snorkelling in the world. From the Blue Corner – made famous by Cousteau to the Big Drop Off and Ulong Sandbar, from the German Channel and Shark City, to ‘Iro’ a Japanese ship sunk during World War II. Guests can immerse themselves in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to swim among millions of non-stinging Mastigias jellyfish in Jellyfish Lake, which A&K has reserved exclusively. They will tour historic World War II battle sites and enter by special permission the Seventy Islands, a World Heritage Site off-limits to outsiders for nearly 60 years, and meet fascinating cultural leaders and local experts such as the founder of the Micronesian Shark Foundation and scientists at the Oceanography Society Research Station. HTL002848 A lavish on board experience Travellers will spend seven nights cruising aboard the exclusively chartered superyacht, Saluzi, featuring an interior designed by award-winning yacht designer Luiz de Basto. Elegant suites feature en suite bathrooms and full entertainment systems. At 226 feet long, Saluzi is spacious, swift –cruising up to 16 knots –and stable. Onboard amenities include a gym, spa with massage therapist, nightclub and an open-air cinema. The crew of 32 provides impeccable, personalized service, making this voyage among the islands of Palau an unforgettable luxury experience. HTL002841 The ultimate in expertise Leading the journey alongside Geoffrey Kent is Toby Fenwick-Wilson, one of A&K’s most celebrated and well-travelled guides, who worked alongside Kent to personally craft this itinerary. A team of expert scuba divers and guides will join the group to provide unmatched support and guidance in exploring Palau’s legendary waters, islands and jungles. Supporting the Oceanographic Institute Treasures of Palau is the first in a series of Ocean Explorations and Expeditions in Style, in partnership with the Oceanographic Institute Foundation Albert I, Prince of Monaco, whose mission is to introduce people to ocean science in order to promote a respectful and sustainable approach to our oceans. Abercrombie & Kent will donate five percent from each booking to the Institute to support its efforts. Tour starts from $145,000 per person, double occupancy.
