InterContinental Sydney has collaborated with Australia’s award-winning photographer Matt Irwin to launch a series of inspired tributes to the world’s most stunning harbour. “Sydney: A Love Affair” is Matt Irwin’s latest masterpiece of photographic excellence, designed to capture Sydney’s spectacular icons, natural landscapes, streetscapes and legendary destinations from Bondi’s Icebergs to the Queen Victoria Building. A photographic exhibition of Irwin’s “Sydney: A Love Affair” has been curated inside the InterContinental Sydney lobby gallery, and is now open for public display until 5 January 2018, with the book released to coincide with the exhibition. Recognised as a Sydney icon of its own, InterContinental Sydney has partnered with Matt Irwin to create a special-edition coffee table book of “Sydney: A Love Affair,” paying tribute to the hotel’s historical bloodline and highly coveted views of Sydney Harbour from the level 31 Club InterContinental rooftop. The book features a unique cover, designed exclusively for InterContinental Sydney, and an introduction from the hotel’s GM Jörg Böckeler. Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore officially launched “Sydney: A Love Affair” in the InterContinental Sydney’s lobby gallery on 30 November. In its signature style, over 40 influencers and industry media were suitably welcomed with a bespoke canapé selection and drinks menu from head bars manager, John Toubia, before exploring the gallery with special guest Matt Irwin.
“There’s a certain grandeur I always feel when I visit Sydney: the shorelines, the breathtaking harbour and of course its global icons,” said Matt Irwin. “InterContinental Sydney breathes the embodiment of Sydney – everything from its heritage and architecture to the incredible views – and I knew there was no other place my exhibition belonged.” Mr Jörg Böckeler, GM InterContinental Sydney said: “It is a marvellous feat to see Sydney’s beauty so carefully captured through art. It gives me great pride to be able to share a special edition of “Sydney: A Love Affair” with our guests and offer a significant window into the magnificence of Sydney. There is a great sense of home.”
