Bestselling author and TV host, Luke Nguyen, has been appointed global cuisine ambassador for Vietnam Airlines in a bid to further promote local culture and cuisine to the world. The three-year contract will see Luke develop eight of his own culinary creations that will be introduced on the Business Class menus of all flights departing Australia to Vietnam, as well as input into the current offering of 50 dishes served globally. Creating a dish that tastes good up in the air and appeals to both continents is no mean feat according to Luke Nguyen who is currently looking for new ideas to spice up the airline’s culinary offering.
“Menu planning sky-high is very complex. We lose about 15 to 20 per cent of our taste at 50,000 feet and finding a food offering that has authentic Vietnamese flavours to suit different passengers isn’t easy. I look forward to the challenge. “The Vietnam Airlines collaboration is a very exciting partnership for me. I’ve always been impressed with how much pride they take in providing top-quality cuisine, so for my dishes to take off in such a big way is pretty special. I’m already dreaming up my next idea for the airline.” Le Hong Ha, the executive vice president of Vietnam Airlines, said: “As the national carrier, we always aim to introduce our passengers to a truly Vietnamese experience, and we are delighted to work with Luke Nguyen to bring this to life.”
