Luxperience, Australia’s dedicated luxury travel global business exchange, is gearing up for one of its biggest years yet. Six months out from the event, Luxperience has secured a record number of European exhibitors, confirming Australian luxury travellers continued interest in the market. “Each year we survey our buyers to evaluate what kind of product their customers are desiring,” says Michelle Papas, Event Director of Luxperience. “Europe keeps appearing as the most desirable destination, in particular, Greece, Italy and Portugal. This year, we welcome our first Croatian exhibitor.” This year Luxperience will see several Greek exhibitors showcasing at the event, both returning and new. Visitor numbers recorded by the Greek National Tourism Office show a 94% increase in Australian travellers from 2016 to 2018. Katia Gkikiza, Trade Commissioner from the Consulate General of Greece in Sydney said, “There is no slowing down of Australian visitor numbers to Greece. The standard of tourism product in Greece is constantly adapting to the needs of the contemporary high-end traveller, and the luxury sector is booming.” Michelle Papas adds, “Luxperience has recognised that the actual destination often isn’t the main factor when deciding where to travel. Experiences are driving luxury travel. Be it food and wine, shopping or sporting events, today’s high-end traveller is looking to immerse themselves in the destination and Europe offers unique experiences that can’t be found anywhere else.”
