Hurtigruten has confirmed that two of its ships have been rented out to the company filming the next instalment in the Mission: Impossible movie franchise co-owned by Hollywood hunk, Tom Cruise.
The ships chartered by Truenorth include MS Vesterålen and the expedition cruise line’s newest vessel, MS Fridtjof Nansen. The arrangement started at the end of August and runs through until the end of September 2020, Hurtigruten said.
MS Fridtjof Nansen had been docked at Hellesylt and will act as a hotel-ship during the filming of Mission Impossible 7, but is now understood to be off the coast of Norway. During the filming, there will be 400 Norwegian and international workers on the set, Norway Today reports based on documents viewed by local newspaper Åndalsnes avis.
According to The Sun in the UK, the Hurtigruten ships were chosen to act as a floating village in an effort to avoid additional COVID-19 production delays which had already resulted in delays for the film. That source also reported that Cruise picked up the £500,000 bill for the two ships month-long charter.
