Disney Cruise Line officially accepted delivery of its new ship, Disney Wish, during a maritime ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany.
In attendance was Captain Minnie Mouse, alongside executives from Disney Cruise Line (DCL) and Meyer Werft. The ceremony included the traditional lowering of the Meyer Werft flag and the raising of the Disney Cruise Line flag aboard the brand’s fifth ship.Subscribe to LATTE Cruise’s free eNewsletter to keep up to date with everything in the luxury cruise space.DCL presented the shipyard with a Cinderella statuette commemorating the life-sized bronze statue that greets guests of Disney Wish in the Grand Hall.
After the ceremony, DCL’s Captain Marco Nogara took the helm of Disney Wish for the transatlantic voyage from Bremerhaven to her home in Port Canaveral, Florida.
With 1,254 staterooms onboard – including the showstopping two-storey Tower Suite in the Sky, found in one of the ship’s funnels – Disney Wish introduces a brand-new, distinctly Disney design concept unlike anything at sea. The ship features new spaces and experiences infused with more Disney storytelling than ever, bringing to life the fantastical worlds and beloved characters at the heart of Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars adventures like never before.
Disney Wish sets sail on its maiden voyage from Port Canaveral to the Caribbean on 14 July 2022.
