Norwegian Cruise Line has shelved the first two sailings for its new ship Norwegian Viva scheduled for June 2023.
Norwegian Viva is the second of six Prima-Class ships that NCL has announced so far. The first, Norwegian Prima, is on track for launch in September this year after its inaugural sailing on 17 August was also scrapped.Subscribe to LATTE Cruise’s free eNewsletter to keep up to date with everything in the luxury cruise space.Norwegian Cruise Line said the delayed launch of Viva was due to supply issues.
In a statement to guests and travel partners, NCL said: “We regretfully inform you that as a result of the global supply chain constraints impacting industries worldwide and the related downstream construction delays at the shipyard building our next class of ships, Norwegian Viva’s June 15, 2023 and June 24, 2023 sailings have been cancelled.”
Those voyages terminated were 9-night cruises from Lisbon to Rome and from Rome to Trieste.
Norwegian Prima’s new first sailing, according to NCL’s website, will be the previously slated 9-day Greek Isles: Santorini, Mykonos and Croatia voyage from Trieste (Venice) to Athens, departing 3 July 2023.
