SWITZERLAND DESTINATION OF THE MONTH – 2022 WEEK 2 OF 4
Sustainability is a big word – particularly when it comes to travel. But one thing is certain: the more mindful and responsible we are when we travel, the smaller our negative footprint.
Eating, sleeping and getting from A to B – with a minimal footprint.
Sustainable Gastronomy
What makes Switzerland particularly advanced in terms of sustainable gastronomy? Earth-kind organic vegetables, social integration projects in the restaurant industry, or new technology for less food waste: the Swiss culinary industry has been working towards a more considerate and respectful approach to nature and to its dealings with one another for decades. Does that mean Switzerland has done enough already? Not at all. The number of initiatives for more sustainable gastronomy has never been higher than today. Visitors can see and enjoy the change that is taking place at all levels of sustainable gastronomy. myswitzerland.com/en-au/planning/about-switzerland/sustainability/sustainable-gastronomy/

IGNIV
A blend of fine dining and homely comfort. The concept of IGNIV by Andreas Caminada, is centred around comfort and deliberate sharing. IGNIV means “nest” in Romansh, and Andreas wants his guests to feel as comfortable and cared for as a little bird in its nest. The restaurants of the IGNIV family are all dedicated to the same culinary philosophy – and yet each of them has its own unique character. Spend the night doing your bit for the environment
In Switzerland, the locals have always taken care to find a balance between the needs of guests, the local populace and the environment. This is also a major concern for the hotel industry. myswitzerland.com/en-au/planning/about-switzerland/sustainability/responsible-accommodation/
