Virgin Galactic hosted a new 3-day, annual event for its Future Astronaut Community earlier this month in Wyoming’s Sierra Madre mountains in the United States.
Dubbed ‘Space for the Curious’, the inaugural event was an opportunity for Virgin Galactic to offer its Future Astronauts a variety of curated, inspiring, enriching and adventurous experiences leading into their spaceflight.
Hosted at Brush Creek Ranch, Virgin Galactic welcomed guests from all over the world, with Future Astronauts old and new attending. The theme of this year’s event was “Why Space Matters” and guests were connected with a host of experts, unique panels and hands-on workshops centred around mission, purpose and legacy.
Virgin Galactic Chief Executive Officer, Michael Colglazier, was in attendance, with panel guests including Kellie Gerardi, Citizen Scientist and Future Astronaut; Jim Kwik, Brain Coach; Jean Oelwang, CEO of Virgin Unite; and multiple past astronauts – Chris Hadfield, Ron Garan and Anousheh Ansari, who in 2006 was the first female space tourist, having spent nine days on the International Space Station.
