On Tuesday 8 August 2023, a delegation of representatives from Fukuoka Prefecture Tourism Association hosted Visit Fukuoka Night at premier Japanese restaurant, Kuro Bar & Dining, in Sydney. Guests were treated to a Fukuoka-themed menu with region-specific sake pairings that showcased the region’s rich culinary scene and premium food offerings. The experience was given an educational twist with presentations about the latest travel news, attractions and upcoming events in Fukuoka. Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture, Seitaro Hattori, delivered the opening remarks, while Chairperson of Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly, Katsuji Kohara, lead the opening toast. Kuro Bar & Dining executive chef, Takahiro Teramoto, talked guests through the creative concept that drove the menu, while travel and food writer, Jane Lawson, spoke about the food, arts, culture and natural attractions visitors must visit when exploring Fukuoka.
Alan Taylor of VC Fukuoka, a cycling team in Japan, revealed Fukuoka to be a desirable destination for avid cyclers looking to explore the region’s landscapes in a clean and sustainable way. Taylor also spoke of the Tour de Kyushu, an annual professional road bicycle race held in Kyushu, Japan for the first time in October 2023 as part of the UCI Asia Tour.The overall message was clear: Fukuoka is an emerging hot-spot that balances modernity and tradition in equal parts.
