Non-residents visiting Kenya’s Maasai Mara Reserve are now being charged US$100 per person per day to access the iconic game park after new fees were introduced on 1 January 2024. Previously, the rates was US$70 per person, per day, year-round.
The recently adopted impost of US$100 applies for the first six months of the year and then doubles to US$200 per person per day, effective 1 July through 31 December 2024.
Additionally, the fee structure has switched from a 24-hour charging system to a 12-hour system, meaning guests who haven’t exited the Maasai Mara by 10am on the day of departure, will be slugged an additional day’s fee.
For children 16 years and younger, the Mara Park Fee is a flat rate throughout the year of US$ 50 per child per day.
The new park fees are applicable to all existing confirmed bookings in the Maasai Mara, as well as new reservations.
The Narok County Government which oversees the park says the fee adjustment is necessary to cover the rising costs of managing and conserving the Maasai Mara Reserve.
