Lead by Capella Hotel Group’s Regional Director of Sales, Liz Rodgers, representatives of Capella Sydney, Capella Singapore, and sister lifestyle brand, Patina Maldives this month travelled to Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney on a weeklong sales Roadshow renewing connections through a series of events and meetings with valued travel industry partners.
The mission culminated in an evening reception held at Capella Sydney’s McRae Bar – a modern rendition of a Victorian-era drinking den where guests were invited to immerse themselves in the glamour of times gone by and celebrate the first golden age of fine drinking through a contemporary Australian lens.
As the heart of the Capella philosophy is the curation of memorable and impactful culture and experiences, the evening’s entertainment combined elements of Sydney’s traditions and heritage in partnership with the McRae Bar’s masters of mixology.
On arrival guests were greeted by a powerful “Welcome to Country” delivered by Aunty Margret Campbell, an icon in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tourism space and a pioneer in the cultural Tourism market.
Followed by historian Max Burns – McRuvie’s entertaining Crime & Cocktail Experience – a deep dive into Sydney’s early to mid-1900s history of Rum, Rebellion and Robbery which had guests enthralled.
Other ‘Capella Moments’ included music by guitarist Martin Campos, rum cocktails curated for the evening’s theme – all set against the backdrop of indigenous artist Otis Hope Carey’s hand painted mural. It was a “swell party”!
Event hosts also included:
Anita Ng, Director of Travel Industry Sales, Capella Singapore
Suzy Bellamy, Director of Sales, Capella Sydney
Afrah Abdulla – Assistant Director of Sales & Marketing, Patina Maldives
Marc von Arnim – General Manager, Capella Sydney
