Send your clients on an epic trip of a lifetime, travelling among the spectacular landscapes of Norway, Sweden and Finland with bright skies above. Skies that shine all day, and all night, giving them ample time to make the very most out of their adventure.
The Arctic’s Midnight Sun is a phenomenon your clients can experience with Hurtigruten during their Follow the Midnight Sun small escorted group tour.
Follow the Midnight Sun Southbound
Visit 40 remarkable places in 15 days
Clients will begin their expedition in Stockholm, Sweden for a private, guided tour of this majestic city before boarding a ferry bound for Finland. The charming, overnight experience includes views of the Aland Islands archipelago before guests arrive at the next capital city on their itinerary – Helsinki.
Scandinavian scenery and Santa
All aboard the Lapland express as guests journey overland by train to the reputed home of Santa Claus in Rovaniemi. At this time of year, the scenery is filled with lush greenery in the soft glow of the never-ending Midnight Sun. Your clients will coast through Scandinavian scenery and cross the Article Circle to the far north of Finland where the sun doesn’t set for much of the summer. After seeing the magic of Santa Claus Village, travellers can then enjoy the luxury of staying in their own Midnight Sun cabin featuring a 360-degree glass roof.
Hike with huskies, experience Sámi culture
Clients confident in their fitness will create more core memories when they hike with huskies through the wilderness. During the evening, with the glorious lighting conditions of the Midnight Sun, guests can participate in a photographic expedition, finishing at lake-side wilderness camp to watch the sun approach – but never meet – the horizon. The next day, clients will travel by coach to Inari to learn about the rich culture of the Finnish Sámi, then cross the border into Norway and overnight at Kirkenes, rich with WWII history.
The voyage begins
Guests will now embark aboard HX’s MS Nordnorge or MS Nordkapp, taking Hurtigruten’s famous Norwegian southbound coastal route. Highlights among the many ports of call include midnight stops to colourful towns such as Tromsø where the Midnight Sun highlights scenery that wouldn’t be visible at other times of year. Passengers can stroll around the lively city in the middle of the night, experience a candlelit classical concert at Tromsø Cathedral or take a midnight boat ride (optional excursions). As they continue down Norway’s spectacular coastline, travellers will view the incredible Trollfjord and, if conditions allow, will sail between the iconic sheer cliffs.
Savouring salmon from the source
Crossing back over the Arctic Circle, passengers will head to Brønnøysund to join an optional excursion to the Norwegian Aquaculture Centre for an informative tour and taste of fresh salmon. They will continue onto the historic, royal city of Trondheim where clients can join an excursion to the Bergtatt marble mine; an ethereal experience inside a mountain and across an illuminated subterranean lake.
Happily ever after in Bergen
Before the Hurtigruten cruise concludes in Bergen, clients will have a chance to glimpse Nordfjord under mainland Europe’s largest glacier, then disembark for a city sightseeing tour and an additional day of leisure in Bergen.
