The Australian Travel Industry Association CEO Dean Long has been appointed Vice Chair of the World Travel Agents Associations Alliance (WTAAA) as the organisation embarks on a period of transformation.
Unveiled at the recent General Assembly and Board Meeting in Athens, Greece, the new leadership team will work to address the evolving challenges faced by travel agents and advisors globally. Long will work alongside another Vice Chair, Paula Cortés of FOLATUR, to support Chair Wendy Paradis of ACTA.
“I am confident that this diverse and experienced team will guide the WTAAA to new heights of influence and effectiveness,” Paradis said.Meanwhile, Eric Drésin of ECTAA has been named Secretary, while MATTA’s Hamza Rahmat assumes the role of Treasurer. Executive Director Otto De Vries of ASATA will continue to steer the organisation with a focus on advocacy and member engagement. Additionally, Mark Meader of ASTA will lead the Land & Sea Committee, with Christian Möller leading the Air Matters Committee. WTAAA highlighted key priorities for this new leadership team as tackling the complexities of New Distribution Capability (NDC), addressing travel fraud, and expanding the WTAAA’s reach, particularly in Africa. The organisation also took the opportunity to thank outgoing Chair, Andrew Bowman, for his outstanding leadership, ensuring a seamless transition to the new board.
