Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has unveiled Fairmont Breakers Long Beach, following a multimillion refurbishment of an iconic Long Beach hotel that was announced two years ago. The coastal escape is located in Long Beach, just 40km south of Los Angeles, was originally built in 1926 and was once frequented by Hollywood icons like Elizabeth Taylor and Cary Grant. Now, a partnership between Fairmont and development firm Pacific6 has breathed new life into the hotel, with design teams HBA and RVD Associates infusing its historic charm with a dose of modern luxury.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts CEO Omar Acar said the hotel brings a piece of history “back to life”. “Together with our partners at Pacific6, we are also ushering in a new era of luxury for Long Beach,” he said. “Since signing this project, we have heard so many meaningful stories about the significant role this hotel has played in the lives of those who grew up in and around Long Beach, and those who visited the hotel in its prime. It is our distinct honour to now be a part of those special stories, and to carry them forward.” The revitalized hotel features 185 elegant guest rooms, including 22 suites, designed with coastal-inspired decor and panoramic views of Long Beach’s harbour and skyline. Rooms range from 27 square metres to 73 square metres.

Amenities include a luxury spa, a rooftop bar with stunning ocean vistas, and two signature restaurants, with the return of Long Beach institution Sky Room. Other options include Nettuno, offering Italian-inspired cuisine, and Alter Ego, a jazz bar that evokes the hotel’s 1920s A-list heritage. General Manager of Fairmont Breakers Long Beach Mark Steenge said the property showed the evolution of Long Beach as a destination. “It is an honour to play a role in the revival of an iconic landmark within this community, serving as a haven for visitors and locals alike,” he said.
