The Ritz-Carlton, Belgrade is expected to feature 193 guestrooms and suites along with The Ritz-Carlton Club experience and two distinct dining venues. Plans for the property also include an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre and spa, along with more than 1,700 square meters of meetings and events space. “Serbia continues to grow as an important business and leisure destination, and the signing of The Ritz-Carlton, Belgrade reflects our commitment to expand our portfolio of brands and experiences in its progressive capital and the broader region,” said Sandeep Walia, Chief Operating Officer, Middle East & Luxury, Europe, Middle East & Africa.

The luxury property will arise on the site of the Belgrade’s former ultra-luxury hotel, Hotel Jugoslavija, which will be demolished after sitting mostly idle since 1999. The Ritz-Carlton, Belgrade will be the centrepiece of a project that also includes residential and office towers, a conference centre, a marina, and a promenade. “We believe this project will bring new energy to Belgrade and strengthen its position on the global map of luxury destinations,” said Ivan Bošnjak, Director of Millennium Team and Representative of Danube Riverside d.o.o. Beograd, the partner behind the project. The hotel will be situated on the Nikola Tesla Boulevard, right on the Danube river front, in close proximity to government institutions and the business district. The location will also provide convenient access to Stark Arena, Sava congress centre and Belgrade’s old town. The new build property is planned to be a part of the site revitalisation of the former Hotel Jugoslavija, bringing this famous location back to life. Marriott International’s portfolio in Serbia currently includes four properties, including The St. Regis Belgrade (which opened last month) and Moxy Belgrade.
