Last week, Viking Octantis achieved an exciting first for the cruise line as it made a spectacular ice landing in Antarctica. The Polar Class 6 purpose-built expedition ship has a reinforced hull designed to navigate through icy waters, allowing it to venture into polar regions with both ease and safety.

The 378-guest vessel was Viking’s first expedition ship, marking the launch of Viking Expeditions when it started its inaugural Antarctic season in January 2022. It has since been joined by sister ship Viking Polaris, which was delivered in September of the same year.
