Marriott International is expanding its outdoor-focused lodging offerings with two major deals aimed at bringing immersive nature experiences to its guests. The company has acquired the Postcard Cabins brand, formerly known as Getaway Outposts, and signed a long-term agreement with Trailborn, both of which will become part of Marriott’s planned outdoor-focused collection in 2025. Marriott Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Development Leeny Oberg explained that the collection will offer a variety of options, ranging from bespoke lodging close to national parks to glamping experiences. “Marriott has long been committed to offering incredible travel experiences for every trip purpose. As guests are increasingly interested in nature-immersive travel, we are excited to build on the incredible breadth of our portfolio and welcome the Postcard Cabins and Trailborn portfolios to Marriott Bonvoy as we deliver more accommodations and experiences in awe-inspiring destinations,” she said. “Whether you’re looking for bespoke lodging near natural wonders, an elevated camping experience, or off the beaten path excursions in nature, our planned outdoor-focused collection is expected to offer a broad array of options for seasoned adventurers and first-time explorers.”

Postcard Cabins consists of 29 properties with a total of 1,200 cabins across the US, providing travellers the chance to disconnect and immerse themselves in nature. Each cabin is located within two hours of a major city and features modern design, private bathrooms, and full kitchens. The acquisition will integrate Postcard Cabins into Marriott’s platforms in 2025, allowing Marriott Bonvoy members to book stays through the app and website. Founder and CEO of Postcard Cabins Jon Staff shared his excitement about the bringing the company’s offering to a global audience. “What started a decade ago with a small group of believers in the power of spending free time in nature, has grown into a national movement, which we expect will only gather steam with Marriott’s expansive reach,” he said. Meanwhile, Trailborn, which specialises in design-forward hotels for outdoor adventures, will add its portfolio of properties near destinations like Rocky Mountain National Park and the Grand Canyon into the Marriott fold. “Trailborn is excited to work alongside Marriott to provide guests with the perfect blend of comfort and adventure in stunning outdoor settings,” Co-Founders Mike Weiss and Ben Weinberg said. These additions mark a significant step in Marriott’s mission to offer more nature-focused options for guests, catering to the growing demand for outdoor escapes that don’t sacrifice comfort.
