Golden Eagle Luxury Trains has unveiled three brand-new itineraries as it introduces the Golden Eagle Silk Road Express to its fleet of luxury trains in 2026.
The new program expands on Golden Eagle’s addition of the Deccan Odyssey in India with six departures this year, as flagged by LATTE in October.
Departing in Autumn 2026, the new routes will unlock China, Tibet and Central Asia.
The Golden Eagle Silk Road Express is an en-suite private touring train, offering two accommodation classes, with each cabin blending the ornate design of the Orient with the grandeur of a by-gone era. The Han Dynasty Suite is a 22.2 sqm cabin, featuring a double bed and a double sofa, with a separate living room, dressing table and a dining table. The 5.2 sqm en-suite bathroom is equipped with a bathtub, shower, double sinks and premium amenities, including a Dyson hairdryer, smart toilet, minibar, full-length wardrobe and more.
The Superior cabin is an 11 sqm “elegant retreat” that blends comfort and style, with two single sofas converting to a bed by night. The Superior cabin features a 2.5 sqm en-suite bathroom.The new routes include:
The Grand Silk Road, a 22-day journey between Beijing and Tashkent aboard two private trains – six nights on the Golden Eagle Silk Road Express and 12 nights on the Golden Eagle, with two night pre-tour in Beijing and one night at Ritz-Carlton Almaty. Destinations visited include Xi’an, Dunhuang, Kashgar, Samarkand, the Gobi Desert and UNESCO-listed sites. The route was last operated in 2019, with 2026 marking the return of the legendary Silk Road.
The journey departs on 21 September 2026, and is priced at US$50,700 per person twin share in Superior Class/Gold Class, or US$98,900 in Han Dynasty Suite/Imperial Suite.
Ancient China by Private Train, a new 12-day rail trip between Beijing and Urumqi in Northwestern China. This exclusive journey onboard the Golden Eagle Silk Road Express will encompass imperial capitals, desert oases and ancient cities, including Xi’an, Dunhuang, Hotan, Kashgar and beyond, and attractions including the Terracotta Warriors, the Great Wall and Apak Khoja Tomb in Xinjiang.
The journey commences on 21 September 2026 and is priced at US$18,500 per person twin share in Superior Class or ‘on request’ in Han Dynasty Class.
China & Tibet Rail Discovery, a new 13-day journey between Urumqi and Lhasa, Nepal, taking in the fabled heights of Tibet aboard the Golden Eagle Silk Road Express, incorporating visits to Kashgar, Turpan, Dunhuang and Xining.
The journey departs on 12 September 2026 and is priced from US$19,900 per person twin share in Superior Class or US$49,900 in Han Dynasty Class.

Additionally, Golden Eagle Luxury Trains is teasing two future rail journeys in Africa and India.
The 46-day Cape to Cairo (Cape Town to Cairo) trip in February 2027 will encompass 21 nights aboard the Pride of Africa between Cape Town and Tanzania. That journey will visit South Africa, Eswatini, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Malami, Comoros, Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea and Egypt. The trip also includes Business class configured private jet flights.
Meanwhile, the Kashmir Mail journey is also scheduled for 2027, operating between Mumbai and Delhi, or vice versa. On board the luxurious Deccan Odyssey, the itinerary will include stops in Jaipur, Gwailor, Agra, Shimla, Kapurthala, Amritsar, Wagah, Jammu and Srinagar on the Northbound run.
