A sprawling development to be built around Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), entitled SKYTOPIA, will include a luxury hotel, an entertainment complex, a cultural hub and much more, according to recently unveiled plans.
Last week, the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) presented its ambitious SKYTOPIA blueprint to a gathering of more than 300 leaders from Hong Kong, Mainland China and the wider international community.
“We envisage that HKIA will not be just a place for passengers to board their flights or a portal for entering Hong Kong. Our vision is to develop ‘SKYTOPIA’ into a landmark of its own, and a world-leading destination, attracting visitors from within Hong Kong and the prosperous Greater Bay Area, as well as major markets in Asia and the rest of the world,” AAHK Chairman Frank Lam said.
“We are grateful to the HKSAR Government for the policy support and excited to see the positive responses from the business community. We look forward to working with investors to make ‘SKYTOPIA’ a key economic driver of Hong Kong and beyond”
AAHK will build the key infrastructure, creating a platform for experts and investors to deliver services and products through specially designed facilities, he explained.
Among these will be commercial activities, popular culture, art, entertainment, and leisure. Hong Kong’s first one-stop art hub will feature art creation, appreciation, and trading under one roof, along with a dedicated stand-alone art storage facility.SKYTOPIA will also be home to Airport Bay Marina, the city’s largest yacht bay with more than 500 berths. The development will also feature Hong Kong’s largest water recreation area and the Jet Fresh Market, which will offer fresh gourmet products sourced from around the world.
The project aims to position “SKYTOPIA” as a key economic driver for Hong Kong and beyond, attracting visitors from the Greater Bay Area, Asia, and around the world. It will open in phases starting from the second half of 2025.
