Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group Kempinski is entering a new era of transformation and growth, with two key appointments to help drive this vision.
Group Chief Executive Officer Barbara Muckermann said the new additions to the team come as the company positions itself as a “dynamic leader” in the global luxury hospitality market. She confirmed the new recruits as Gordon Drake, who takes on the role of Chief Financial Officer, and Rasha Lababidi who joins as Chief Product Officer.
“I am absolutely thrilled to welcome Gordon and Rasha to the senior leadership team at Kempinski Hotels,” Muckermann said.
“Now is a pivotal time for the company as we usher in a new era of the brand’s 127-year journey in the luxury hospitality space. We are at the precipice of transformational change, and with these strategic appointments, I am excited for what’s to come.”
Drake brings more than 30 years of global experience in corporate finance, asset management, and strategic development to the company. He will oversee Kempinski’s financial operations and play a crucial role in its long-term growth.
He previously served as CEO of The Doyle Collection, where he led the company through the post-pandemic recovery phase. Interestingly, after his departure, this role was filled by Kempinski’s former COO Timur Sentuerk at the end of last year.
“I look forward to working alongside the talented team to drive sustainable growth and create long-term value for our stakeholders,” Drake said.
Meanwhile, Lababidi will spearhead product innovation, design, and guest experience across Kempinski’s luxury portfolio. With more than 25 years of experience in luxury hospitality, her work will focus on enhancing the Kempinski guest journey.
“I am excited to be joining Kempinski, a brand renowned for its exceptional service and luxury experiences,” she said.
