The ship’s innovative hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system significantly reduces CO₂ emissions, while an advanced control and positioning system enhances efficiency. Solar panels generate additional power, and a heat recovery system optimises energy use. Special glass panelling further minimises heat loss and temperature fluctuations, enhancing onboard comfort. At 135 meters in length, AMADEUS Aurea will accommodate up to 158 guests while sailing on the Rhine and Danube. The vessel will comprise 12 balcony suites and 67 light-filled exterior cabins, most with drop-down panoramic windows. “No other cruise line offers such a seamless blend of luxury and sustainability,” boasts Marcus Leskovar, Executive Vice President of AMADEUS River Cruises. “In 2026, we continue our tradition of innovative shipbuilding, further strengthening our commitment to eco-friendly cruising. The AMADEUS Aurea embodies everything our fleet is known for while also showcasing cutting-edge technology that reflects our dedication to sustainable travel.” Meanwhile, AMADEUS River Cruises will launch the slightly larger AMADEUS Amara in 2025. The ship has a capacity of 164 guests in 12 balcony suites and 70 cabins.
