The program will also encompass expeditions in the Baltic Sea, Norway and Greenland.
Over the years, PONANT has built strong relationships with local communities in these regions, working together closely to design innovative itineraries that honour both environmental and cultural traditions. This collaborative spirit allows guests to immerse themselves in the winter customs of the Mi’kmaq and Innu in Canada, the Sámi in Norway and the Inuit in Greenland.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_images_carousel images=”170144,170145,170143,170141″ img_size=”full” autoplay=”yes” wrap=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1739434246825{margin-top: 15px !important;margin-bottom: 15px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1739434321636{margin-top: 15px !important;margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1605829610747{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]

Exclusive itineraries during a season unreachable by other vessels
Le Commandant Charcot opens new frontiers of exploration as the only high polar exploration vessel designed to navigate the most remote environment. Her PC2 polar-class hull enables her to traverse multi-year ice, while her hybrid propulsion system minimises environmental impact.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”170142″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1739434239119{margin-top: 15px !important;margin-bottom: 15px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1739434373976{margin-top: 15px !important;margin-bottom: 15px !important;}”]“This season, Le Commandant Charcot takes on a full winter journey in the North, embodying her spirit of exploration with itineraries centred around ice and snow,” said Patrick Marchesseau, PONANT Captain of Le Commandant Charcot during her first St. Lawrence River crossing in January 2025.
Itineraries include The St. Lawrence River in the Heart of the Boreal Winter which operates round-trip from Quebec City, with departures on the 14-night itinerary departing on 13 and 27 February 2027. From Quebec to the La Baie Fjord (Saguenay), locked in ice, this journey offers an immersion in vast pristine landscapes, with the unforgettable hospitality of the Innu and Mi’kmaq communities.
