In South Africa for the first-time, the eight Australian travel advisors were based in the suburb of Gardens, just outside the heart of downtown Cape Town, housed together in the spacious More Quarters Residence. The trendy four-bedroom Heritage abode in the Kloof Street Neighbourhood is a private sanctuary, away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, but mere steps away from busy restaurants, specialty stores, shops and bars.
Sam Van Eldik, Adventure World’s South Africa Product Manager, led the group – which also included LATTE – on a full schedule of destination highlights. The curated itinerary included a privately guided tour of the gobsmacking Table Mountain, with the travel specialists on one of the first gondolas of the day to the summit. On our visit, the summit was partially bathed in cloud forming the aptly named ‘tablecloth’, flowing over the edges and resembling cloud waterfalls. Part of the wider Table Mountain complex is the Twelve Apostles – a string of mountain peaks stretching out from the summit and overlooking Camps Bay.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_images_carousel images=”170148,170151,170150,170149,170154″ img_size=”full” autoplay=”yes” wrap=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1739853629971{margin-top: 15px !important;margin-bottom: 15px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1739850702594{margin-top: 15px !important;margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1605829610747{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]

The evening was capped off with a private conversation with Cristo Brand, a former prison guard who was responsible for guarding Nelson Mandela, from the comfort of More Quarters’ Private Residence.
The following day the travel advisors joined a vintage motorbike sidecar tour with Cape Sidecar Tours and ventured along Cape Town’s Western Atlantic coastline under the shadow of Table Mountain and the 12 Apostles, to Camps Bay, beyond Hout Bay and to the Chapman’s Peak. The operator has a fleet of grand motorbikes and vintage sidecars. Two canines – Brody and Theo – joined the group on their adventure.
Other highlights of the trip included a Winelands day-tour exploring Stelllenbosch – South Africa’s second oldest town, preceded by a visit to the Dylan Lewis Sculpture Garden outdoor gallery featuring bronze sculptures amid a rolling landscape, and lunch at the Boschendal Farm in the heart of the Cape Winelands featuring restored Cape Dutch buildings.
Also in Cape Town, the group had a chance to explore the V&A Waterfront – a mixed-use suburb in Cape Town, and the site of the oldest working harbour in the Southern Hemisphere – for some retail therapy and down time.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1560229304502{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]
