British Airways has marked its 45th year of connecting London with Seattle with the re-opening of its lounge at Seattle Tacoma International Airport. Following an extensive refresh, the upgraded space is now welcoming customers travelling in Club World (business class) and First, as well as those with eligible frequent flyer status.

Features of BA’s revamped lounge include:
  • A brand-new full-service bar: Acting as an elegant centerpiece to the lounge, the bar will serve premium champagnes and beverages including local beers from Seattle’s Elysian Brewing Company and made-to-order cocktails
  • A new food servery area: A redesigned food servery area allows for a much wider variety of hot and cold items, including local favorites and British-inspired dishes
  • A dedicated First service: Customers travelling in the airline’s First cabin will enjoy a new dedicated a la carte dining service, and premium Champagne options
  • Dedicated zones: New seating areas have been introduced alongside an elegant banquette that divides the lounge into distinct spaces to suit customers’

preferences, including areas to relax, dine and catch up on work

  • Work-friendly spaces with new ‘focus pods’: Contemporary British furnishings and upholstered furniture have been installed to create a sophisticated workspace. Focus pods provide customers with ultimate privacy and comfort before their flight
  • An unrivalled view: The main seating area has been opened up to make the most of the lounge’s floor-to-ceiling windows which offer a 180-degree view of the runway and the mountains beyond
The overall design drawing inspiration from the Pacific Northwest, with walls are adorned with textile artwork by local artists Hannah Mason and Vacilando Studios, while warm tones, marble stone surfaces, opal glass lamps, and soft shapes have been combined to create a welcoming and elegant atmosphere. “The refurbishment of our Seattle lounge is the latest to be completed and we can’t wait for our customers to enjoy it,” said Calum Laming, British Airways’ Chief Customer Officer. “The pre-flight experience is such an important part of our customers’ journeys, so a lot of careful planning went into blending luxury with comfort, while weaving our British Original brand throughout, and we are certainly proud of the end of result.” Seattle follows refreshes of British Airways’ lounges including London, Singapore, Washington and Edinburgh, with more to come this year. The airline is also set to open new lounges in Dubai and Miami later this year, both featuring the airline’s new design concept which is yet to be revealed.
