Seabourn has today confirmed the sale of Seabourn Sojourn to Mitsui Ocean Cruises. Following the sale, Seabourn will charter the ship back from Mitsui Ocean Cruises and continue to operate all published voyages on Seabourn Sojourn through completion of its world cruise ending 15 May 2026. Seabourn Sojourn will then be delivered to Mitsui Ocean Cruises after the charter period and upon handover, the ship will be deployed by its new owners in a market that is not competitive with Seabourn.

“With this transition, Seabourn will have one of the youngest and most modern fleets in the business, perfectly suited to offer the private yacht-like experience that makes us one of the world’s most popular choices in ultra-luxury cruising”, said Mark Tamis, President, Seabourn. Guests and their travel advisors with bookings impacted after 15 May 2026, will be contacted by Seabourn with details on changes or rebooking options. The 458-passenger ship will sail under a new name for Mitsui Ocean from late December 2026.
“We are proud that after 16 years in the fleet, Seabourn Sojourn will continue her journeys with Mitsui Ocean Cruises. In the coming year, we will find special ways to celebrate Sojourn’s legacy with guests and crew,” Tamis said. Seabourn Sojourn‘s exit follows the sale and change of ownership of Seabourn Odyssey last year, also to Mitsui Ocean Cruises. Since December, the former Seabourn Odyssey is now sailing as Mitsui Ocean Fuji, operating a series of Japanese itineraries. Before entering passenger service for Mitsui, the vessel will undergo a significant refurbishment in drydock and will be re-registered and launched as a Japanese flagged ship. The new vessel will offer a variety of short, domestic itineraries in and around the Sea of Japan that are easy for guests to enjoy. Details of the ship’s new name, drydock improvements and itineraries will be revealed at a later date.
