Viking is ushering in the start of the 2025 European river cruise season as European spring sets in, with seven new sister ships set to take to local waters this year. Each of the new vessels will host fewer than 190 guests and has been specially designed for European rivers. Among them is the Viking Nerthus, a new vessel built specifically to navigate the Seine River, which was delivered last week. As Viking grows its fleet, the company expects to take delivery of 25 additional river ships by 2028, alongside nine more ocean ships by 2030. By 2028, Viking will have a total of 109 river ships, with 21 ocean and expedition ships by 2030. In addition, the company has unveiled three new itineraries that will join its already popular river cruise program: the Rhine & Main Explorer, the Christmas on the Rhine & Main, and Christmastime in Paris & Normandy. Guests can explore southern Germany, Switzerland, and France, enjoy Europe’s festive holiday markets, and soak in the charm of Paris and Normandy during the holiday season.
