Boutique tour operator Beyond the Blue (BTB) has acquired Australia-based DMC Alquemie Travel, marking a significant expansion into the luxury travel market across Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific. It represents a natural extension of the BTB Group’s growth in the premium inbound travel sector, strengthening its already “robust” presence in the Australasian market, according to Owner and CEO Steven Pleciak who founded the business 20 years ago in Auckland, New Zealand. “I’ve long admired the Alquemie brand. They’ve always had the ability to create inspirational and authentic Australian itineraries,” he said. “Going forward, our Alquemie team will continue to celebrate the natural landscapes and engaging people of Australia. “We’ll work with local partners, to make extraordinary experiences happen seamlessly. These specialist partners are integral to the thriving tourism ecosystem we are a part of. In addition to what Alquemie has always done so well, the client experience will soon be elevated beyond Australia.” Sophie-Anne Burton joins the team in a leadership role in Sydney, working alongside Tara Norton in Noosa and Ann Glamuzina in Auckland, to support the integration of Alquemie’s services with BTB’s existing operations. The acquisition will build on Alquemie’s reputation for delivering exceptional Australian wilderness and safari experiences, connecting clients with Australia’s vast landscapes and rich cultural traditions. The expanded offerings will now include new travel services in New Zealand and the South Pacific, broadening the reach and scope of the BTB Group.
