Viking has launched 10 new pre- and post-cruise hotel extensions across select European and Egyptian river itineraries for 2025 and 2026, with three nights in the Champagne region and four nights in Athens among the highlights. These extensions offer travellers the chance to explore new destinations such as Toulouse, St. Moritz, and Tokaj, alongside the opportunity to revisit familiar cities like Amsterdam, Budapest, and Cairo, which are now included on previously unavailable itineraries. These new extensions provide an ideal way for curious travellers to further explore their city of embarkation or disembarkation as well as other locations, according to Viking, maximising their time away. Travel agents can also benefit from these extensions, as they are eligible for commissions when booked online via the Travel Advisor Portal or the Contact Centre prior to departure.

They include some of Europe’s most historic and culturally rich cities. For example, in France, guests can enjoy a three-night stay in Toulouse and Carcassonne, where they can explore Toulouse, known as the Pink City, with its terracotta brick facades and historical landmarks. In Italy, travellers can embark on a four-night journey through Milan and St. Moritz, aboard the Bernina Express for a rail journey along a UNESCO World Heritage Site route through the Alps. Taking travellers from the charming streets of Amsterdam and Bruges to the ancient wonders of Athens and Cairo, Viking’s new pre- and post-cruise extensions are now available for booking, allowing travellers to “significantly enhance their experiences” as they journey to these destinations.
