Luxury eco-conscious hospitality will soon have a new address in Australia with 1 Hotels today opening reservations for 1 Hotel Melbourne, its first property in the country, set to debut in June 2025.
The waterfront hotel blends nature-inspired design with sustainable innovation, transforming the historic Goods Shed No. 5 into a landmark destination in collaboration with developer Riverlee.
“At 1 Hotels, we believe that luxury and sustainability can—and should—go hand in hand,” said Barry Sternlicht, Founder of 1 Hotels and Chairman of Starwood Hotels. “This hotel isn’t just about where you stay—this is about how you feel, how you connect, and how travel can inspire a deeper commitment to the world around us.”
The property features 277 rooms, including 36 suites, each designed as a sanctuary. Guests will find reclaimed materials, live-edge furniture, and doors with preserved moss panels, all paying homage to the site’s maritime heritage. Rooms are also equipped with energy-efficient technology and natural, local amenities, including Bamford Wellness Spa products.
