Silversea has wrapped up its 2024/2025 Antarctica season sailing 34 voyages to the White Continent over that period, with preparations being made for the opening of the world’s southernmost hotel in time for the next season.
The voyages were carried out by Silver Endeavour, Silver Cloud, and Silver Wind Between 29 October 2024 and 31 March 2025.
“Visiting Antarctica is among the most enriching experiences and our 34-voyage 2024/2025 season delivered an unparalleled range of moments to our guests,” said Silversea President Bert Hernandez. “With calls in new destinations, once-in-a-lifetime wildlife sightings, and other unforgettable activities delivered by our industry-leading Expedition Team.”
Voyages ranged from six-day Antarctica Fly Cruise itineraries aboard Silver Endeavour to immersive 21-day explorations. Highlights included Silver Endeavour’s journey into Crystal Sound, crossing the Polar Circle, and a landing at Historic Base W. Silver Wind, meanwhile, ventured to seldom visited Intercurrence Island, thanks to Silversea’s 2023 scouting mission that identified 22 new landing sites.
A signature experience for many, 28 polar plunges were completed with nearly 2,300 guests participating. Wildlife encounters were plentiful — from beaked whales in Wilhelmina Bay to pods of orcas, humpbacks, fin whales, and even blue whales near South Georgia.
Silversea’s Expedition Team, comprising up to 28 experts per voyage, featured naturalists, historians, botanists, and geologists.
Looking ahead, Silversea is expanding its polar offering with a new 150-room hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile — “set to be the southernmost hotel on Earth,” Hernandez noted.
Scheduled to open for the 2025/2026 season, the hotel will “enhance our industry-leading polar offering by creating a uniquely seamless Antarctica Fly Cruise experience for our guests, delivered in Silversea’s uncompromised comfort”.I am text block.
