Mallorca icon Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá has officially reopened its doors following an extensive renovation that marks the start of a new chapter for the historic Palma hotel.
Completed on 31 March, the renovation has helped the hotel reclaims its place at the heart of Mallorca’s cultural and social life.
Originally opened as Villa Victoria in the 1920s, the hotel was designed as an exclusive extension of the legendary Gran Hotel in Palma. Over the decades, it became a gathering spot for international elites and local artists, hosting glamorous soirées that defined Palma’s golden era from the 1950s to the 1970s.
Now, backed by a €12 million investment from Victoria Hotels & Resorts, Meliá, Bankinter Investment, and GMA, the newly restored hotel promises to usher in a “new era of sophistication,” featuring 171 elegantly redesigned rooms that offer views of Palma’s port and cathedral.
Led by architects Álvaro Sans and Adriana Sans of ASAH, the meticulous renovation delivers comfort and sophistication, while retaining the hotel’s timeless charm. Among the highlights is the launch of the Victoria Grand Café, a tribute to the Grand Hotel Villa Victoria. The café offers an all-day menu crafted from the finest local ingredients, served in an inviting space that includes a beautifully reimagined terrace—an iconic social hub. The hotel also reaffirms its role as a cultural gateway, curating local experiences and forging partnerships with institutions like the Paco de Lucía Festival. In a nod to its glamorous past, Gran Meliá has used AI to bring scenes from the 1950s and 1970s to life, “reviving the glamour, elegance and enjoyment” of Palma’s golden age. This relaunch positions Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá as more than just a luxury hotel. “It is a living tribute to Palma’s rich heritage,” a statement said.
