Cathay Pacific is set to rekindle its connection with South Australia, announcing the return of non-stop flights between Hong Kong and Adelaide starting 11 November 2025. The thrice-weekly service, operating throughout the winter season, will make Adelaide the airline’s eighth passenger destination in the Southwest Pacific region. Cathay Pacific Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau said the carrier is “thrilled” about the renewed service highlighting Adelaide as a city with “particular significance”. “We first launched passenger flights to the South Australian capital in 1992, and then two years later our first batch of cadet pilots arrived in the city to complete their flight training, marking the start of our more than three-decade collaboration with Flight Training Adelaide,” she said. The resumed service is part of Cathay Pacific’s broader regional strategy. “With our return to Adelaide, we will be operating close to 90 return flights per week to eight destinations in the Southwest Pacific at the peak of this winter season,” Lau added. “Whether they are travelling for business, leisure or to visit friends and relatives, we look forward to welcoming customers onboard and experiencing our signature Cathay Pacific service.” Flights will be operated using Airbus A350-900 aircraft, featuring fully flat beds in Business, spacious Premium Economy seating, and comfortable Economy cabins. The schedule includes departures from Hong Kong on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with return flights from Adelaide on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. This move follows a year of significant expansion for the airline, which has already launched services to Hyderabad, Dallas, and Urumqi, with more destinations, including Rome and Munich, on the horizon.
