Luxury DMC Southern Crossings recently hosted an exclusive event bringing together representatives from across the Australian tourism industry. Held last week at the Sculpture Terrace at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art, the evening served as both a celebration of partnership and a preview of the company’s ambitious plans leading up to its 40th anniversary in 2026. Guests included representatives from top-tier hotels, exclusive touring experiences, private charter services, luxury cruise vessels and award-winning restaurants. “If you look around the room tonight, I’m sure you’ll agree that you see a really exceptional bunch of people,” Director of Southern Crossings Australia Paul Groves-Berry said. “The purpose of tonight is very much to just say thank you to all of you for everything that you do with us. We don’t just think of you as suppliers, we think of you as partners and friends.”

He highlighted the company’s rebound since the trials of the pandemic, revealing the celebration had been a long time in the making. “As Southern Crossings looks forward to next year, 2026, celebrating our 40th birthday, we are very proud, with your support, to have built a long-standing reputation as one of the leaders of luxury travel in Australia,” he said. The Southern Crossings event wasn’t just about looking back, however, it was a statement of intent. Groves-Berry emphasised that even with four decades in operation behind them, Southern Crossings is not resting on its laurels. “That position, that reputation, is not something that we take for granted. We’re always looking to strive, to raise the bar, to deliver even more exceptional experiences for our clients. “We’ve had lots of discussions with some of our key partners about what we can do to put a greater focus on continuing to elevate the experience that our clients have when they’re travelling with us.”He also took the opportunity to honour members of the Southern Crossings team. “A company is only as good as the company it keeps. And it’s also true to say that a company is only as good as the people it keeps,” he said. “We’re just so thrilled that we have such a fabulous team of talented and extremely diligent, hard-working travel professionals that work very hard to go above and beyond for our clients.” Meanwhile, Southern Crossings Founder Stuart Rigg spoke of some of the “wacky” achievements made by the company during the COVID period – a three-book series with Gourmet Traveller and a TV series entitled Lap of Luxury among them. He also gave a nod to the future, hinting at ongoing developments and innovations that will further distinguish the brand in the competitive high-end market, among them a new office and team expansion. “We’re about to appoint our first ever representative in the UK, which we’re excited about, and also a total new brand refreshment,” he said. “We’ve got down to two pitching agencies to assist us in delivering a fresh website.”
