Immersive, off-season experiences were on the agenda during Silversea’s Controtempo World Cruise 2025 aboard Silver Dawn which drew to a close in New York City on May 29.
The journey, which embarked in Tokyo on 13 January, visited some of the world’s iconic cities as well as many off-the-beaten-path gems during “unconventional” seasons, according to the cruise line.
“As we conclude our 2025 World Cruise, Controtempo, we are grateful to our incredible guests and dedicated crew who made this journey truly remarkable,” Silversea President Bert Hernandez said.
“Looking ahead, we are eagerly preparing for our next World Cruise and are excited to welcome guests on board Silver Dawn for her second World Cruise.”

The cruise featured seven signature events unique to Silversea’s World Cruises, such as “The Art of Departure” in Tokyo, a ceremonial farewell including a sake toast and a performance by the Hiroshima Junior Marimba Ensemble. In Vietnam, guests enjoyed a “sensorial discovery” in Hoi An, while Singapore offered a sky-high Hawker Market above Marina Bay Sands. Guests found themselves under a “rare blood moon” in Namibia, enjoying “a feast of local specialties” accompanied by fire-spinners and marimba music. France’s Château de Versailles opened its grand staterooms for “an evening of dance, elegance, and indulgence,” and Stockholm celebrated Silversea’s 30th anniversary with a Steve McCurry exhibition and ABBA-themed dancing. Boston brought the voyage to a crescendo with a private concert by the Boston Pops. Looking ahead, Silversea will set sail again in a similarly ambitious fashion, with “The Curious and the Sea” in 2026, “The Three Oceans” in 2027, and “An Ode to the Moment” in 2028.
