Orient Express Corinthian floated out in Saint Nazaire

The world’s largest sailing yacht, Orient Express Corinthian, has been floated out in Saint-Nazaire, France – an important moment for the Accor-owned project. Built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique and designed by acclaimed architect and Orient Express Artistic Director Maxime D’Angeac, the vessel reflects the grandeur of the historic brand throughout its 54 suites and public spaces which include fine dining restaurants overseen by multi-Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno. “Built from fourteen structural blocks and topped by three balestrons rigs, this 722-foot flagship is a masterpiece of artistry and engineering,” Orient Express said as it announced the milestone. “Orient Express Corinthian is also a trailblazer — the first sailing yacht equipped with SolidSail propulsion alongside a hybrid LNG power system — designed to enable near-zero-emission cruising.”

The vessel is also equipped with an AI-driven floating object detection system which aims to minimise the risk of marine mammal collisions. It is also fitted with dynamic positioning technology to eliminate the need for anchoring, thereby preserving delicate seabeds. “Every aspect of the yacht’s design is calibrated to protect the ocean it traverses,” Orient Express said. Orient Express Corinthian will sail its inaugural season from May to October 2026, when it will operate 27 itineraries through the Mediterranean and Adriatic.
