Introducing: the Zambezi Trader, a new river vessel from Zambezi Cruise & Safaris. The ship will operate itineraries between Msuna Island (three hours by road from Victoria Falls or 30 minutes flying) and Lake Kariba. With this new offering, travelers can now enjoy four “iconic” destinations in one itinerary: Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park, the Zambezi River/Lake Kariba and Chobe National Park. What can guests expect? Zambezi Trader has three decks with 29 cabins and suites, accommodating 66 guests. Among the 29 accommodations are 16 fixed twin cabins, five family suites (which can sleep up to four) and eight luxury suites with king beds. Each cabin comes with an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, mosquito nets and a private balcony.

As far as public spaces are concerned, guests can expect a lounge area, bar, sun deck and swimming pool. For those staying in the luxury suites, a private dining room, bar, sun deck and pool are additionally available, as are the captain’s wheelhouse and observation deck. Next year, a spa is set to debut.

Itineraries and Excursions

Itineraries for the 50-kilometer sailing are available in two-, three- and four-night options. Guests aboard the Zambezi Trader can take advantage of smaller tender boats for excursions along the river’s tributaries and into secluded bays. Additionally, activities include game-viewing, birdwatching, fishing and sunset cruises.
From 2026, game drives and walks into the adjacent Private Devil’s Gorge Conservancy (home to four of the Big 5) will be available. Good to know: Zambezi Cruise & Safaris has exclusive drive rights into this unfenced forest and floodplain. Other options will include visits to the local Tongan Chiefs Kraal and into the undisturbed Tongan village community and visit to the training grounds and antipoaching headquarters for a talk on the conservation initiative.
