InterContinental Hotels & Resorts hasn’t taken long to return to Romania with the high-end hotel brand to take over management of the property currently trading as Athenee Palace Hilton Bucharest. The luxe brand exited the Romanian market on 1 January of this year, after Bucharest InterContinental rebranded to the Grand Hotel Bucharest.
IHG Hotels & Resorts, the parent company of InterContinental, is now partnering with ANA Hotels to reintroduce the brand and create “a truly iconic hotel in the heart of Bucharest”.
With the building dating back to 1914, InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest will comprise 283 guest rooms, with many boasting views of Ateneului Park and the Romanian Athenaeum. The hotel, which recently completed an extensive €25 million upgrade, is located in the heart of the city close to Palace of the Parliament, one of the world’s largest buildings.

Recent signings include InterContinental Resort Crete, InterContinental Resort Amma, Canj – Montenegro and InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace.
Facilities at the InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest will include Roberto’s – a stylish breakfast area and all-day dining space with an outside terrace; Café Athénée for dining and The English Bar for drinks and cocktails.
