The holiday season kicked off at Peninsula Hong Kong with a dazzling Christmas tree lighting ceremony on 9 December with Ms Rainy Chan, General Manager, Mr Masahisa Oba, Hotel Manager, and 24 adorable little children, who are all children of hotel staff.. The evening began with a speech by Ms Chan about the traditions of the hotel during the festive season. Following Ms Chan’s speech, 24 little Peninsula Pageboys and Pagegirls joined the stage, along with legendary bartender Johnny Chung and Santa Claus, where they lit up the 6-metre tall decorated Christmas tree. Gold, white and glittering, The Peninsula’s exterior has been transformed into a winter wonderland featuring white willows and twinkling fairy lights all around the hotel. Outside, the forecourt and driveway has been illuminated with large neon snowflakes ranging in width from half a metre to 3 metres. Strung between the two wings of the Original Building, they will link up with reindeer pulling Santa in his sleigh in a shimmering canopy of twinkling highlights.
