Western Australia Premier Roger Cook said: “Securing this new direct flight between Vietnam and Perth opens up an abundance of opportunities between the two countries and represents a whole new inbound visitor market for Western Australia’s industry, tourism and hospitality sectors- supporting jobs and boosting the economy. The announcement further cements out important airlinks within the South East Asia region, who we have a strong relationship and track record with, and my Government is very proud of this progress and the growing opportunities in the future.” Prior to the pandemic, Vietnam was Perth’s 10th-largest international market and the second-largest market without direct flights from Perth. Meanwhile, Perth is the third largest market in Australia for Vietnam. With the new nonstop Ho Chi Minh City – Perth route, Vietnam Airlines will be operating 23 round-trip flights per week between Vietnam and Australia. Vietnam Airlines will serve a total of five nonstop services to Australia including: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City – Melbourne; Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City – Sydney and Ho Chi Minh City – Perth. All flights are operated by wide-body aircraft Airbus A350s or Boeing 787s.
