Singapore’s landmark destination Marina Bay Sands (MBS), has won approval from authorities to develop a fourth standalone tower.
The Lion City’s Urban Redevelopment Authority gave the green light for the proposal which will see a new high-rise of 537 rooms and 153,100 square metres of hotel space (plus 12,185 square metres of retail space), rise adjacent to the triple towers that are linked by a sky pool.
The project was initially flagged in 2019, pre-pandemic, at which time the proposal was for a 1,000-suite tower.
Design, development and programming work for the fourth tower “remain ongoing, with a focus on increasing the leisure and business tourism appeal of Singapore and MBS,” Owner, Las Vegas Sands said.
The new tower will also feature a sky roof with a swimming pool on the top, all-suite rooms and will be accompanied by a live performance arena catering for up to 15,000 spectators, as well as additional capacity for the MICE sector and luxury retail offerings.
It is expected construction on tower four at MBS will commence imminently based on the deadline to start of 8 April 2024, a development agreement with the Singapore Tourism Board indicates.
