Abercrombie & Kent has revealed further details of its new Peruvian Amazon riverboat, now known as Pure Amazon. Named for the pristine beauty and rich biodiversity of the Amazon River, A&K says Pure Amazon embodies the luxury travel company’s “commitment to sustainable exploration and authentic cultural immersion”. As foreshadowed first by LATTE in early April, the riverboat is planned for launch in mid-2025. Pre-registrations have now opened for the vessel and sales will commence in August 2024. In the build up, A&K has shared the first look at Pure Amazon‘s interiors, where sophisticated design seamlessly blends with the authentic spirit of the Amazon.

Designed by A&K Travel Group’s architect, Adriana Granato, of the Milan-based architecture and research practice Studio Ibsen, in collaboration with local artisans, Pure Amazon’s 10 elegant suites and two single cabins are a testament to Peru’s rich cultural heritage. Each space showcases handcrafted furnishings made from locally sourced materials, immersing guests in the textures and hues of the Amazon. Expansive windows frame the ever-changing riverscapes, inviting the beauty of the rainforest inside. In collaboration with local artisans, Pure Amazon‘s design creates a unique and authentic atmosphere, where every detail reflects the spirit of the Amazon. The materials, colours, and lighting enhance the breathtaking views that surround guests throughout their journey, creating an immersive and unforgettable experience. A variety of spaces onboard cater to every desire, inviting guests to discover moments of wonder and tranquillity, adventure and relaxation. This unique concept of comfort seamlessly blends the highest European standards with the warmth and vibrancy of Amazonian culture.
Beyond the sumptuous accommodations, the elegant riverboat offers an array of inviting spaces for guests to unwind and socialise. The indoor and outdoor lounges provide a welcoming retreat to savour a cocktail or exchange stories of the day’s adventures. The dining room, where the flavours of the Amazon influence, features a menu that celebrates the region’s diverse culinary traditions, crafted using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. A&K’s signature guiding and curated itineraries promise an unparalleled journey into the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. Expert guides lead daily excursions that illuminate the rainforest’s myriad wonders, from intimate encounters with iconic wildlife to immersive cultural experiences with local communities. Embark on guided nature walks to spot sloth, monkey and brilliantly hued birds or glide through mirror-like lagoons in search of pink river dolphins. Exclusive visits to local villages offer a window into traditional ways of life and the opportunity to support community-led conservation initiatives.
For those seeking a more active adventure, Pure Amazon offers an array of exhilarating experiences. Kayaking through winding tributaries, fish for piranha in the black waters of the Samiria River or join a night excursion to witness the rainforest’s nocturnal creatures. Onboard the skiffs, enjoy a sunset cocktail or a sunrise breakfast surrounded by the symphony of the Amazon’s awakening. Back on board, guests can indulge in wellbeing offerings. The wellness room offers soothing treatments inspired by traditional Amazonian healing practices, while yoga sessions on the observation deck provide a serene start to each day. For those looking to maintain their fitness routine, the onboard gym features state-of-the-art equipment and stunning river views. As with all A&K travel experiences, Pure Amazon is deeply committed to responsible tourism and sustainability. In partnership with local organisations, the riverboat supports vital conservation projects, including the protection of the endangered charapa turtle and the preservation of the Amazon’s unique pink river dolphin. Guests are encouraged to participate in these efforts, fostering a deeper connection to the rainforest and its inhabitants.
The riverboat will be featured on A&K’s Small Group Journeys and tailor-made itineraries, offering a variety of ways to experience the wonders of the Peruvian Amazon, including three- or four-night itineraries, or a combination of both on a seven-night cruise. “Our first riverboat in Latin America is an exciting new chapter in A&K’s legacy of luxury expedition cruising,” said Cristina Levis, CEO of Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group. “With her launch, we invite guests to embark on a transformative journey into the very soul of the Amazon, where unparalleled adventures intertwine with the warm hospitality and exceptional service that define every A&K voyage.” Pure Amazon will have a maximum capacity of 22 passengers. Guests and travel advisors are invited to register their interest here.
