The historic Quartier l’Océan in Morocco’s capital Rabat is now home to a new Four Seasons property, set along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr al Bahr, meaning “palace by the sea”, is a heritage building that has had new life breathed into it. The interior design by Roger Nazarian and Associates features classic Moroccan touches combined with the latest technology and comforts. Its 200 rooms and suites are spread across several modern and historic buildings featuring ocean or garden views.
Kasr al Bahr is considered an important landmark amid the Moroccan capital, much of which was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012.
The hotel’s location makes it an ideal base to explore Rabat’s sights. These include the boutiques and bistros of the 12th century Kasbah des Oudaias, the bustling alleyways of the nearby medina, the Andalusian Gardens and the Grand Theatre of Rabat.
“Rabat is a small city with a big story to tell, from tales of its past as a pirate’s haven to its modern role as a world capital, and its bright future as an emerging must-visit destination for global travellers,” said Gregory Viaud, General Manageer.
The new hotel builds on Four Seasons’ existing portfolio of properties across Morocco, according to President Global Operations Hotels & Resorts, Rainer Stampfer.
“At Four Seasons we are always inspired by the destination that surrounds us in planning a new experience for our guests, and that is certainly the case in Rabat as we had the opportunity to bring new life into the walls of such a storied landmark,” he said.
“Our collection of luxury hospitality and residential properties in Morocco is as diverse as the country itself, with each new opening introducing something entirely new for both our local guests and international travellers.”
Highlights include he Turquoise Ocean View Suite with sweeping views from the hotel’s top floor and the three-bedroom Moulay Slimane Presidential Suite which is named after the Moroccan king who led the building’s original construction two centuries ago.
The two-storey Sultan’s Riad is, however, considered the property’s crowning glory, offering 950 square metres of space and a rooftop ocean-view infinity pool.
