Emirates has reinstated its daily service between Adelaide and Dubai adding 4,200 weekly seats to the route. The route’s reboot was flagged in February, and had been paused since the COVID pandemic.
The relaunched service will be flown by Boeing 777-200LR aircraft with 302 seats across two cabins, 38 of which in business class in a 2-2-2 configuration.
Nabil Sultan, EmiratesEVP Passenger Sales and Country Management underscored Australia’s importance as a key market for the airline. “The return of our Adelaide service reinforces our commitment to expanding our Australia network, which now offers 70 weekly services across five Australian cities,” he said.
Meanwhile, the South Australian Tourism Commission has estimated the tourism expenditure resulting from the daily direct non-stop Emirates flights at more than AU$62 million per year, with the service creating more than 315 full-time equivalent tourism-related jobs for South Australians.
Zoe Bettison, South Australian Minister for Tourism welcomed the return of the daily service, highlighting the 220,000 Emirates passengers who will touch down in the state each year using the service.
“Now South Australia is even more appealing to some of our key international markets, as Emirates eases the connection between our great state and over 140 destinations worldwide,” she said.
“Emirates’ return will be a major player in our efforts to grow the state’s international market, which is currently worth AU$1.3 billion to South Australia’s visitor economy.”
