Accor has confirmed it will open its largest Sofitel in the world in Cairo, taking the luxury brand’s tally of hotels in Egypt to four – a sign of its belief in the destination’s “great potential”. The 615-room Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile on the banks of the River Nile will open in January 2025, with the conversion of the former Conrad Cairo expected to infuse the brand’s trademark “French elegance” with the local culture.
