The Sunshine Coast’s first voco hotel will open in Maroochydore in 2028, IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has announced, in plenty of time to accommodate visitors to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. voco Maroochydore Sunshine Coast will be located on Ocean Street as part of a mixed-use development by Sydney-based developer Felix Capital – part of its vision to showcase the region to the world during the major sporting event. The 153-key property will offer guests water views, as well as a wellness area incorporating outdoor pool spa and sauna. There will be a 140-seat specialty restaurant and 65-seat lobby bar along with a 130-seat all-day dining restaurant and pool bar. Cameron Burke, IHG Director of Development, Australasia & Pacific described it as an “incredibly exciting time” for the Sunshine Coast.

“The region desperately needs new accommodation product, and hotel developments like voco Maroochydore will play a vital role in stimulating the local economy,” he said. “We are excited to help enhance the enviable coastal lifestyle that Maroochydore locals enjoy, and to be expanding our presence on the Sunshine Coast by bringing our fast-growing voco brand to this key strategic market.” Michael Maroun, Felix CEO and Founder highlighted the positive impact the project would have on both locals and visitors. “The voco brand is a perfect fit for what is set to be a vivid lifestyle destination on the Sunshine Coast, at a time of significant need for new hotels in the region,” he said.
