Two new luxury suites, Australis and Aurora, will debut aboard the Ghan, the Indian Pacific and Great Southern trains in April 2026, Journey Beyond has confirmed.
The new offerings will offer a “new level of luxury” to travellers exploring Australia by rail, according to CEO Chris Tallent.
“We are excited to launch the new suites that set the highest standard of luxury train travel in Australia and internationally,” he said. “A moving luxury like no other, the suites are unrivalled and further elevate Journey Beyond’s portfolio of luxury accommodation and experiences in Australia.”
Designed by the global firm Woods Bagot, the suites combine art deco style with the beauty of the Australian outback, with decorative timber accents, marble masonry and references to Australia’s pastoral history. “Luxury in an Australian context takes on its own definition. Australian luxury is characterised by quiet confidence, quality, comfort, and attention to detail,” Woods Bagot Principal Rosina Di Maria said. The Aurora Suite is double the size of the Platinum cabins, while the Australis Suite Is three times the size. The latter suite is being positioned as the “most luxurious in Australian train travel”. Each suite offers a queen-sized bed, personal bar, and ensuite with premium amenities. Champagne Bollinger La Grande Année, a private butler and exclusive off-train experiences are also part of the of the offering.
