Capella Hotels and Resorts will make its European debut with the launch of Capella Florence in 2027, the company’s President Cristiano Rinaldi has confirmed.
Rinaldi made the announcement in Milan earlier this week at an event attended by Italian travel and hospitality media, revealing that the new hotel would have 89 keys with 10 exclusive residences.
“For me, this announcement carries particular significance as we bring our brand to the continent that has shaped so much of my own understanding of hospitality and heritage,” he said.
The new property will be located in a heritage site on Via San Gallo, within the vicinity of popular tourist attractions Piazza della Libertà and the Duomo.
“This isn’t just another luxury hotel opening,” Rinaldi stressed. “We’re undertaking the respectful transformation of a historic Via San Gallo complex that has served Florence for over 800 years – from 12th-century convents to a military hospital, always at the heart of the city’s cultural tapestry.”
Capella Florence will respect local history while creating “meaningful connections” for today’s luxury traveller, he continued. With this in mind, Capella has chosen to work with design firms who share this commitment. “The masterful reimagining involves acclaimed Italian architects RPA and Studio De Vita & Schulze Architetti, with refined interiors by French design house LIAIGRE,” he said.
“Grazie, Firenze. We can’t wait to call you home.”
